Mary L has increased her bid to 24. dollars
A noodle shuffle is a great way for quilters and people interested in quilting to swap Noodles (2-1/2 inch strips of fabric). Members of a noodle shuffle send each other fabric to use in their quilts.

I'll bid $23, can always use more fabric.
Anna re 'cheesecloth' I think it was used to wrap the cheese in to harden, you know how the rind has a woven pattern on the outside. The fabric needed to be loose to drain and dry out the cheese or it went mouldy.

Jo, Isnt the English language a tricky one? Muslin is a fairly dense weave cotton. It is usually an off white or beige. I think it is representative of what plain feed bags used to look like. We call what you are talking about, Cheese Cloth. I guess it resembles swiss cheese. Too funny.
Kathy, Thanks for the heads up! I will take care of it.

Have fun ladies with your 30's fabric, you will enjoy the Dresdan Plate Blocks.
May I ask a silly question. Anna you mention Muslin, Question
Here in England our Muslin is very loose mesh thin fabric, used mostly for straining Fruit to make Jelly.
I use it to back any embroidery, or traputo quilting.
Intrigued, is it a cotton fabric.

Marilyn it looks like you are not getting much competition. I thought you might have one or two people wanting some friendly fun. Do you know what you want to make with 30s fabrics?
I found and downloaded a pattern for a very basic, but large dresden plate and when I get a chance Im going to make that. Each block is around 17 inches so it shouldnt take too many to make a lovely big quilt. It will be tough to find the right background though. I cant seem to find muslin anywhere but the quilt store and it is pricey for plain fabric if you ask me.
Happy sewing
Anna

30s noodle auction
- 30s noodle auction - 2008-09-23 17:30:57-04
Finally, the last of the 30s noodles are photographed and here for your bidding pleasure!
There were 72 in all so I divided them into 3 groups, gave 2 groups to Pat as she asked first, and very nicely too in fact. The third set up for auction.
You have until next Tuesday at 9pm EST to fight it out to see who gets them.

Tennye, there will be Christmas ones for sure. I havent had time to dig those out of the box yet. I think we had 9 people in the shuffle and we sent in 11 noodles each. So there should be 36 noodles to auction off. That will be something for me to work on one night this week. If I have anything to add I will do that too and see where that puts us. There should be enough for 2 lots maybe.
Keep you posted!
Hugs, Anna

Sounds like the bidding has already started on those 30's fabrics, did I see that maybe there is a set of Christmas fabrics left over that might go up on the block??? I could go for those if there is?
Tennye
I will bid 22.00 for them if there is a set available. Not to take someone elses though.

Hello noodlers
To answer a few questions.
There are 72 noodles for auction with 1930 reproduction fabrics
I am going to break them up into batches of 24 each. Two sets go to Pat which leaves one lovely set for auction. Like always I have added some from my stash, but this time I have cut them into noodles and just added a few different ones to each batch.
The auction will start tomorrow and end in one week.
(I found a Dresden Plate pattern that uses fabric cut into 4 1/2 inch strips to cut the blades so if anyone wants the pattern, contact me and I will be happy to pass it along. There appears to be no wasted material which is great.)
