Kathy, We have this great place called Darn Cheap Fabric, thats only 30 mins from us and there's another one somewhere in Carlton that has good fabric for only a few dollars a metre, so guess what I'm doing in the school holidays? Fabric shopping!!--Now I have a great excuse. Thanks So much Joyce PJ. I'll post if either of them sell online OK. Joy
A noodle shuffle is a great way for quilters and people interested in quilting to swap Noodles (2-1/2 inch strips of fabric). Members of a noodle shuffle send each other fabric to use in their quilts.

We have one store very near us, but cheap it isn't. It is small, but I could look. (I don't drive and it seems everyone is always in a hurry). Maybe if extra noodles are needed they could be something that coorinates with the print.

Thanks for your answer Suzy. I saw thoes also. I was trying to look for animals that are native to my country. I found prints for like a 4inch block but nothing smaller than that. I'll check up on Ocean Songs by Burch.

I was shopping for my second jar quilt and found some really cute fabric that would work great in 2 1/2 in strips.Ocean Songs by Burch for clothworks had bright colorful fish. Island Delight by Free Spirit had blue fish with coral. Also found blue crabs with coral, tree frogs, dragonflies and butterflies. All different companies but there were many out there. They were 2.50 a fat quarter. Hope this helps. Cats,,nothing in the farm animal type that would fit your size.

I found some woodland animal print on ebay that looks to be small enough. I havent actually put my hands on it so I have to go by the description. Most ebay sellers are now photographing their fabric with either a ruler or a coin for size reference. In the past it has turned out to be very accurate for me the buyer. Hope this helps. Oh, yes, I have purchased my fabric. Finger crossed it works when I get it. Anna

Idea was: If a few people join any particular shuffle and like you mentioned we could then send in more than one noodle for each person... What if we sent in 2 or three different fabrics still with one of each pattern per person. Answer: LOVE IT!! Comment was: The swap sounds like a lot of fun, but until I can shop and find the fabric, I'll have to pass on it. I'm sure it will pick up as the months go on. The first couple will be hard, except for those that have easy access to these fabrics at a shop or in their stashes. Answer: I know the feeling Kathy, I have set up a Poll to see how many others are having trouble finding this. If I get alot of negative answers, like I think there will be.. We will be adding something to go with the animal prints, so that the ones that have already got them will not have their searching efforts go to the stash pile. Joy that would be GREAT information to share if you can get your hands on it!! Hope this helps,Post edited by: P.J., at: 2007/06/16 17:24

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask how many have gone shoping and NOT been able to find an animal print that would fit a 2 1/2 inch block? I went to 5 shops one day, and 3 others the next found all kinds of prints, but none small enought to fit. This is a city, and I still have had no luck. Mom laughed and joked that I could send on person the top of the animal and another the feet!! THAT WILL NOT WORK!! HA HA Mom! If you have found a small animal print, please share the information as to where you found it. So the others and I can find it also. Once I get some feed back from you all, I will decided weather or not to keep the current theme, or change it around a little so that the ones that have found the fabric will be on track, and so the others...can try to get fabric to fit the track!! (I tried to make a funny, I need to take funny lessions from some of you). Question is: How many have gone shoping and NOT been able to find an animal print that would fit a 2 1/2 inch block?Post edited by: P.J., at: 2007/06/16 17:03

- What if only a few people join a shuffle? - 2007-06-16 07:39:07-04
Hi Joyce and PJ I had a thought and of course it had to do with quilting. ;) If for some reason only a few people join any particular shuffle and like you mentioned we could then send in more than one noodle for each person... What if we sent in 2 or three different fabrics still with one of each pattern per person. So if there were 7 people in a shuffle, I would send in 7 pink flowers, plus 7 yellow flowers, plus 7 burgundy flowers. Do you follow me? That way each person would still get only one piece of each fabric plus they would get more than if we just sent in one per person. It is so hard to put into words what is in my head sometimes. :silly: Now if you are not to confused it will give you something to think about. Hugs for all your hard work, Anna Post edited by: usannda, at: 2007/06/16 12:42Post edited by: usannda, at: 2007/06/16 13:45

Guide For New Noodle Shuffle Members
- Guide For New Noodle Shuffle Members - 2007-06-15 11:44:17-04
Guide For New Noodle Shuffle Members Hello and welcome to the guide that will help you join in on the fun of sharing fabric from around the globe!!!! I have tried to post as much information into this one post, so that new members can scroll through and find the information they are needing without having to go to 15 different posts to get it!! So I hope this helps you to find out more about the Noodle Shuffle here on Creative Quilting. If you have any questions feel free to email the Hostess's at noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com Now, you may be asking yourself, What in the world is a noodle? . Simply said, it's a strip of fabric that is cut into a 2.5 wide strip that is the WOF (width of fabric), which usually ranges between 40 - 44 . Some months the noodles may be wider as some may prefer to make blocks and not use noodles every time. At the beginning of the month there will be a post as to what kind of noodles are being swapped so the everyone is on the same track. It will be intresting to see everyone with the same fabric come up with something different to make. Swapping fabric from around the world will also make it great for others to see what types of fabrics are out there that we may have never been able to see or have the chance to work with. Each month there will be A fabric color or print to guide us in picking noodles for the swap. Each person will choose a fabric and cut a set amout of noodles (amount will vary on how many sign up for the Noodle Shuffle). To keep it simple, mail the noodles to a set address, from there the noodles will be sorted out for each Shuffle member and mailed out to everyone. Once they arrive they will be able to make their projects and post them here on Creative Quilting. On or around the 15th of the month we will send out an email to the members to let them know the current head count. Remember you have to meet the qualifications in order to participate. What can be done with noodles? Cut them into smaller pieces and use the smaller pieces in quilts, such as 2.5 squares Use them as the whole noodles to make a noodle quilt Use them in a braided border Use them in the Tessellating Stars pattern Use them in log cabin blocks Use them in a rail fence block Use them as piano key borders Use them in Half-Square Triangles Use them as diamonds in the LeMoyne Star pattern Use them in I Spy quilts. Use them in a Lasagna quilt. Where do I sign up? Please send an email to JHPym P.J. saying that you would like to join the Noodle Shuffle ****Please do not post personal information in the forum thread. Send that information through email**** Please include in the email: Creative Quilting Id Name: Current Email: Real name and Address: Country: Month of Shuffle you are wanting to join: Hostess's to email: Patricia/P.J. Joyce/JHPym at noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com Guidelines for Noodle Shuffle The shuffle hostess will check your Profile to see that you meet all of these conditions: Or be a Paid Member of Creative Quilting) You need to have been a Creative Quilting member for at least 1 month to participate in a shuffle. You need to have posted at least 15 times on Creative Quilting to participate in a shuffle.Reason for this is to show you are an Active Member . When you see a shuffle you are interested in joining, send the Hostess of the shuffle an email saying that you want to join. In the announcement of the shuffle. Remember, send the Hostess an email -- don't post the information on the shuffle thread. Please think carefully before you join a shuffle about whether you will truly be able to fulfill your end of the shuffle by the deadline that is given. What if I unexpectedly can't make the deadline? If for any reason whatsoever (and there may be any number of legitimate reasons), you are unable to fulfill your commitment by the swap deadline, please let the swap Hostess know by email, as soon as possible. It is crucial to inform the Hostess. Mailing your shuffle item to your shuffle Hostess. You need to use delivery confirmation (DC#) or package tracking of some sort when you mail your package. Also, you need to send the tracking number to the Shuffle Hostess so that they can record it. This way if the package gets lost we can trace it. There are two reasons why you might be allowed to skip delivery confirmation: 1. Some shipping places (like the US Post Office) will not do package tracking/delivery confirmation on packages that are too thin. 2. If you are mailing to another country and adding on package tracking/delivery confirmation could be very expensive, then you can skip it. If you need to skip tracking, then for proof of mailing just keep the receipt from shipping the item. The receipt should have information about where the package is going. Please use sturdy envelopes and tape shut if necessary. We donÂ't want any loose Noodles in mail! Don't forget to include a self-addressed vanilla envelope with paid postage using STAMPS for the hostess to return your Noodles to you. What if I am in a Different Country? If you are in a different country than your Hostess, please just add a Â"Travlers CheckÂ" from your bank, with the same amount that you used to ship your noodles. DUE DATE - The Due date is 25th of the month. Please be sure to mail them early enough so that they are in the HostessÂ's hands on the last day of the month. If there is a special circumstance that you can not make the deadline please pm/email the Hostess as soon as you can, otherwise the Hostess will do the noodle shuffle without you. The Hostess's will start the sorting/shuffling as soon as they get them. Then they will get them ready to mail out. They are then swapped between the Hostess's, then back in the mail to you within 7-10 days after the deadline/last day of the month. There will be a general deadline of the 15th to sign up for the shuffle, this is so we can have general head count for the current members to start cutting/purchasing fabric. Strips need to be mailed to the Hostess and received by the due date. Please feel free to join in and swap/shuffle as often or as little as you would like thru the year! Send an email to noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com for the mailing address of your Hostess if you don't already have it and if you have any questions! Who are the shuffle hostess's and how do I contact them? P.J and JHPym are the Hostess's that you will need to contact for questions about the Noodle Shuffle. Feel free to email them at noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com For signing up for swaps and recieving newsletters please use this address. noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com **TIP* Just copy the address and paste it in the composed message of your email program. Quality! That is going to be different from person to person. Everyone is going to see things differently, that is a great part of quilting creatively. Everyone is going to choose the fabric that they like and can afford. We are asking that you send the type of fabric that you would like to receive. Please keep in mind that we are trying to keep it simple, and not a lot of rules like there would be in a Guild. This is just a great oportunity to share fabric from around the world. Create some really cute projects that we may not have been able to. Our goal is to make this fun and fairly easy with the fewest guidelines, so that everyone from around the globe can share in our quilting passion. We donÂ't want everyone running to RULEÂ's before they choose to share fabric. That is why we have made GUIDELINES. Other than working out the Shipping Kinks, this should be fun, and exciting experience for everyone. There are Senior Quilters, Experienced Quilters, Teachers, NoviceÂ's, and Beginners joining in on the Shuffle. Please keep in mind, not every one knows everything. This will be a great learning experience for many of us. Please use your best judgment when choose and sharing fabric. There will so many people from different backgrounds, and that will keep it interesting and fun. So lets all get together and Shuffle some Noodles!!!! Signed, Patricia/P.J. That is true. Maybe March would be better and then people could take advantage of Feb. sales! Christmas fabric will be on sale the end of Dec. so maybe do more Chrismas fabric. Maybe those with metalic in them? That might be cutting it close on sending them, but there are sales earlier, too.Post edited by: kquilts, at: 2007/06/14 18:57

Hi Serra, Its me again. No problem, we were all new here once. You will get the hang of it all in no time. The best thing you can do for yourself (and others who are afraid to ask) is ask questions. You will always get an answer and if you are still unsure ask some more. It works!!! Here is a link to a post that was put up last night with the themes and how to sign up. Click on the link and it should take you to where you want to be. Basically you need to email either PJ or Joyce with your user name, real name, real address for shipping and which shuffle you want to be part of. K? Give it a try. http://www.creative-quilting.com/forum/forum/view-2369.html Have fun AnnaPost edited by: usannda, at: 2007/06/14 11:39

I missed the reply about tucking something special in for the hostesses, I really like that idea. How about if we send a 5 inch noodle for the hostesses. They could cut it in half if they want the same as everyone else, or they have the option of using it for something with larger pieces. I like the charm idea too. Not quilting today, and not happy about it. (My machine in in for servicing) Anna

Thanks! I'm new here and don't know the ropes. Is there a sign-up sheet? How do we know when new projects or classes come forth? I get the Quilting Weekly Newsletter, but there was nothing about Noodles. Will it be in the next? I still want to do July. It's perfect for me to fulfill a project I'm thinking about. Thanks! Hi Serra, I think I can answer this one for you. (Im a curious person and got the answer from PJ already) ;) For now we are to send all our noodles from one fabric to make it easier for the sorters, PJ and Joyce to separate and send out. Once they get the hang of it then we may be able to try different fabrics within the guidelines. Ok, so for now, its all the same fabric you need to send in. What is a Noodle Shuffle??
You can find a lot of information about the Noodle Shuffle and how you can participate in this exciteing event, in the forum - there is a whole section just for the Noodle Shuffle...
In the mean time P.J. answered a few questions for another member and I thought they would help some of you understand the process a little better. So here is P.J.'s answers to the questions:-
Question: Do you get various patches back or another noodle.
Answer: We will be swapping Noodles-2 1/2 inch strips of fabric, You
will send in one noodle per member signed up, then be shipped one
noodle from each member signed up.
Question:Do you contribute 1 strip or a few.
Answer: If we have allot of people sign up you will only need one per
person. However if only a few sign up (like under ten) then we will
request that you throw in an extra noodle per person so that the is
enough fabric to make a project.
Question: You mention postage for overseas members. I wasn't too sure
how that is?
Answer: There will be members from around the globe! That is one of
the great things about the swap. You will get fabric that is
different from country to country. Overseas Members? We have a
Hostess in Australia and Myself In the United states. In the future we
will be adding Hostess in country's where there are a lot of members.
The reason for having a Hostess in separate countries is because it
will keep postage down for the members. Then the Hostess's will swap
fabric over the borders to keep some confusion down.
Hope this helps!! Feel free to check out the Noodle Shuffle Forum on
