Welcome back Jean........ have your name on the swap list.
Diane
A noodle shuffle is a great way for quilters and people interested in quilting to swap Noodles (2-1/2 inch strips of fabric). Members of a noodle shuffle send each other fabric to use in their quilts.

It is like home comming for me now. Yesterday I had my first day at a Quilting group here, it is held in one of my old school rooms. Now today I have been able to get back into the group here, I am being looked after it seems.
I am so happy to be back in my home towns again. Marilyn miss your visits.
Now would love to join in this Birthday Block swap, if I may please.
Oh its good to be back.
Cheers
Jean

Ok here is my two bobs worth ... I vote for the bricks and stepping-stones one I emailed to you all. My thoughts are this we can enlarge the brick part to use up noodles i.e not 3.5 but 4.5 . And to keep portions balanced make them 7.5 or 8 long. The 2 squares become 2.5 . These can be strip pieced or if keen use lots of scraps up. This is very easy block and quick. Each person could nominate a preferred colour and off we go.
I am also in favour of doing blocks that each person would prefer.
Ok Let me know

Please include me in the birthday block shuffle! I love getting blocks already made! It will be truly fun. The Christmas block exchange was really fun (once I got on to how to paper piece that is!)

I would like to join the swap, I think though we need to say one block design like the friendship star from Chris's class. To me that is
1. Symbolic
2. Easy and
3. Everyone has the instructions.
Also you could do like Joyce said and get a few made in advance-I'm planning to sew for 2 months straight when we go to Phillip Island at Christmas-
And on a completely different note, will try to post Jill's quilt photo
Love

You gals have been busy. I would like in too. Its good to decide on a type and get a few made and ready to post so we arent caught short.
I dont really care which block we choose as long as it isnt paper piecing. I am done with that for awhile. The baskets and trees kind of put me off paper for now!
I am so glad to see we are all still wanting to share with each other.

like the idea of a given block so we can have some on hand.
Would like to set a deadline date to sign up as Nov.20th
as for a block how about a 12 crazy patch block or ?? ideas from you......... this would sure help use up some of our scraps. would like to start with Brithday's in 2009.

I would love to be in too.
If we had a set size and a popular square picked, we could have some made early and be ready for the first persons birthday.
I really like the idea of using our scraps and ending up with a scrappy quilt. Would be a great way to see what others have in their stash and we would be emptying our scrap containers. Joyce

Love this idea and would love to take part too. It would be a help to get some made in advance so as not to be caught short of time.
Joyce it would be good to think we were going to empty our scrap containers but I think most of us add more than we use.

I want in, but I will need a reminder too. I will have to put a huge list up on the wall so I have the blocks worked out ahead of time and in the mail. That mail thing is my problem. LOL

LOVE IT !!!!! LOVE IT !!!! Diane.... Yes we would only be making for those that sign up so shouldn't be too hard. UNLESS there are lots in one month but hey if we have the list to go by then we have lots of notice. Suggestion Say Up to 19 names can go on a list. So if we end up with more start a 2nd or 3rd list as the need arises. So first in fist served..... PUT ME DOWN
BUT I MY NEED A BIG JOLT of electricity when the dates comes around OH! I will be good and print up a huge list and put near my Kiddlets dates that way it will be in my face to remember.

Hi all
If this idea of a B-day exchange goes through.....
we would not be using the existing birthday list...
this would be a dif listing.... you would have to resister for the block exchange.
any other ideas or questions..... fire away.

Hi girls - just me again have an idea for block exchange.
We could call it a Birthday Block Exchange.
List your Birthday:
Colors you want:
Size block:
Pattern if desired:
This way it would give us time to do the blocks
then sit back and when you B-day comes run to mail box to get your surprise.
Let me know what you think????????

Sounds like fun Diane, but there are so many of us we would have to make blocks all the time and keep them moving every week almost. lol How could we ever keep up, I have to watch the post to know who is the birthday girl. I am bad with dates.

Keep the ideas coming..... like what I am hearing.
Could have every one who is interested sign up like they did for Birthdays..... not really sure how to organize but I am sure others will have good ideas.

Love the idea of the block exchange. Yes I agree it should be on a one to one basis. We could even find out what we all would like, thus make different blocks for each other. Not to get bored that way.
Maybe one would like butterflies then one a logcabin, or a star etc. could use up scraps. And everyone would have what they love from around the world.
Pretty sure there will be many more ideas, but lets make it happen.

OK OK OK There that is my 3 bobs worth!!!! I would dearly like to have an annual block swap. But like the Xmas swap I think we should all send one on one. Then no one is up for too much work. There are a lot of easy blocks that together look great.
I have a churn dash quilt that was made in this way. It was given to me..Yes by a grateful parent...Yes i am very lucky. So I can send a picture of it if you would like to see it.
Let Me Know

It has been a pleasure for me to do the Noodle Shuffles, I loved it all. I would like to thank BJ for our finger presser too and Anna for the Merry Christmas fabric.
I would also like to thank BJ and Anna for jumping in and helping when we needed new hostesses.
I will miss the letters, always loved getting all the mail. Squishy Envelopes from overseas and Australia.
Was fun.
You never know we might just come up with an idea we cannot resist. Although with the economy the way it is, I thank God I have a stash and my noodles put away for future use.
I hope it will not be too hard for you all and we come out the other end with quilts.
