Hi Marilyn,
there's plenty of NZ fabric, and I'll be looking forward to recieving lots of 'roos, cockies, goannas and koalas from Oz !
Absolutely freezing here today. Everything thick with frost! BRRRRRRR !!
A noodle shuffle is a great way for quilters and people interested in quilting to swap Noodles (2-1/2 inch strips of fabric). Members of a noodle shuffle send each other fabric to use in their quilts.

Hello Sally,
We are at a great loss for losing you from the Shuffles. You were the first one signed up so I know you were excited to join.
The cost factor has been a decision for several members. There will be shuffles in the future of tone on tone, colors and light prints that can be found in cheeper fabrics so keep your eye out for them.
I want to thank you for your support and efforts through out this shuffle. Please feel free to join at anytime! Thank you for your intrest in the Noodle Shuffle.
Signed,
Patricia/P.J.

Hello Noodle Shuffle Members,
I want to thank everyone for their support and interest. The Noodle Shuffle has finaly started. Today is July 7th, the final head count has reached 25! That brings us to a total of 25 4-½ inch Noodles and to our total of 2 yard of fabric for this monthÂ's shuffle.
As of today the sign up for July International Animals shuffle will be closed. Everyone will be able to get their fabricÂ's washed, ironed, cut and in the mail.
We are kicking off the July shuffle off early because that will give all of us time to work out any shipping issues that might come up. Today I will be sending out the shipping addresses of your HostessÂ's so look for that in your email.
Next months theme is International Flowers/Flora. Flowers that are native to your area, or country. If you would like to sign up for August please send and email to us at noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com to get on the list for August.
Ok Chicks!!! Lets Shuffle!!
Signed,
Patricia/P.J.

Sally, I am sorry you must drop-out but I understand...the cost may become a factor for me as well. Where is Adamtown PA ? Is it near Philly?
Withdrawing from Swaps
- Withdrawing from Swaps - 2007-07-07 04:29:40-04
I must apologize, but I am withdrawing from the noodle swaps. After reflecting on the idea, I've decided that if I were to do a project using this size, I'd rather pick out the fabric. As well, I've learned that I can do more with yardage than small amounts of this n that, which is what my current stash reflects. As well, it reflects the status of my current income which must, unfortunately, be carefully watched.
So for these reasons, I've decided that swaps are not affordable for me, or in my best interests.
However, I do hope that you all have a wonderful time and totally support what a fun idea it is!

Its good that you made it. Did you find some NZ animal fabric? Yours must be the only NZ lot we will have. From time to time see some great projects made with specifically NZ fabric.
Your trip sounds like a great opportunity. I am sure Raisa will love her quilt. Hope you can post a photo of it for us to see.
As you have probably seen I live on Bribie Island, so not too far from Gold and Sunshine Coasts, and Brisbane.
Happy noodling. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn
I know Q'land a bit. Lived in T'wmba for 6 years when I was young. We went to Surfers for camping holidays, back when the Chevron Bowling Alley was THE place to be seenI remember we all got blown away, tent ,caravan and all, on New Years Eve 1959 or 1960 or thereabouts
We ( hubby and I), visit Q'land regularly, usually a few days at the coast, to thaw out from the miserable NZ winter, and then some days with my bestest friend from school and her husband.
Going to Holland in August, and 2weeks to Bulgaria with our son Robert (who is living in Holland at the mo) and his Bulgarian partner Violeta. She loves her homeland, but there's not much opportunity there. Anyway, while we r there its Vili's mum Raisa's birthday. Raisa is originally from Russia. So I'm making her a quilt called Red Squares for RaisaHope she likes it.
I'm in the Shufflethanks for the encouragement
Cheers, Elly

Hello All, As this is the inaugural Noodle Shuffel and we are only learning, I propose we wait and see how the first shuffel goes before a decision is made on the size of the noodles. When we have done our first swap, we will have more of an idea what we all would like to have to play with. We will then ask you all for your input as to what you would like and how the 4 1/2 ones worked for you. Joyce and PJ

Hello Usannda,
Boy! aren't we excited, I have my fabric purchased for the next two shuffles, there was a sale at the shop so thought to buy while on sale.
I will show my August fabric as well. I love your Maple Leaves but the Morning Glory (that is what we call your weed, which is also a weed here) is my favorite. It is getting hard to wait now, the ideas of what to do with the noodles are endless. Joyce
PS> I forgot to say that this flower is an Australian Native flower called Wattle. There are many varietys. It is an Australian Emblem.Post edited by: JHPym, at: 2007/07/04 17:38

I was shopping and found some more fabric that would be great for the august shuffle. My dilemma now is which one to use. One is very canadian leaves in fall glory, and the other grows as a weed in my area, but it is soo lovely! Decisions, decisions.

Sounds great PJ( Joyce). I actually did go ahead and purchase another two yards of my cat fabric as we discussed. However, I like that we are sticking to two yards from now on. That will be easier to plan for and to budget for!
I hope cats are ok....since the only exclusively american animal I can think of is the buffalo and I found no fabrics with buffalo! Since so many of us are cat lovers (including me) Cats seemed pretty International! LOL
Its great t o have a day off today to catch up. I hope to finish my pickled cats and freindship blocks today. Hope everyone in the states has a great 4th of July Holiday! And for those of you in other countries...hope you have a great day, in general!
Hey how about a patriotic theme one month? Each of us could send fabrics depicting their own countries patriotic symbols....just an idea to consider.......

Momma, the Noodle fabric should be 100% Cotton and pre-washed.
Noodle Shuffle Update July 3, 2007
- Noodle Shuffle Update July 3, 2007 - 2007-07-03 14:29:29-04
Hello Noodle Shuffle Members,
The excitement is growing. July first is here and many of the members are ready to GO!
The theme this month is International Animals. Noodles need to be 100% COTTON, PRE-WASHED , then cut into strips that are 4 ½ inches by 22 inches. So cut your fabric down the middle, then cut your strips. Out of one yard of fabric you should get 16 noodles.
Every member will send one noodle per person that signs up for the shuffle. Example if 20 people sign up you will need just over a yard of fabric to get 20 noodles. Once the deadline comes for people to sign up we will send out an email letting every one know the exact number of noodles they will need to ship to their Hostess.
Once the final head count is out, you are more than welcome to ship your noodles and return envelope to your Hostess. Please wait for the final head count before shipping, donÂ't want anyone to have to ship twice. When you mail your Noodles please send an email to your Hostess letting her know they are in the mail so she can mark it in her records and keep an eye out for them.
The Hostess will then sort the noodles and the ones that are being shipped over seas will be shipped out by the 1st of August exchanged then sorted to be shipped back out to the noodle members by the 10th of the month.
Today the head count is 27-28 so our suggestion is 2 yards of fabric and that will leave 4 noodles for people that sign up late. We will not go over the 2 yards! WHY are we waiting until the first to ship back? If all noodles are in before this date we will go ahead and do the exchanging, but if not this is a fail-safe date for you to expect your noodles.)
Now for the exciting news!!!
Since every one has been so patient waiting for the shuffle to start we have decided the deadline for sign up will be on the 7th of July!! On July 8th I will send out an email with the final head count and then you can get your noodles in the mail. WHY? We thougth we would go ahead and start the shuffle so that any sudden mailing kinks can be worked out and stay on track for the shuffle in August.
Your Noodle Shuffle Hostess will be incontact with you to give out her mailing information. So keep an eye out for that in your email!!
Lets get thoes Noodles Shuffled!!!

I just wanted to know before I cut my noodles,
should we wash and iron? Just would rather do it as one piece instead of a bunch of little ones. Thanks

Hi again, Been busy , but finally got to the fabric shop. Went to GJR discount fabrics in Lygon Stand got some with platypuses (platypi?)on. I think they qualify as an animal, even though they're pretty unique. Will try and post a photo in the next day or so, but the background is cream/green/gold, and the platypus' are brown, so they should fit in

Great, Elle. Now dont go quiet, its great getting to know new people. And I am not that far away, in Queensland, so never know when we may be able to pop across (Not any planned trips but you never know what is around the corner. ) Last year we had a business trip to Auckland, quite unexpectedly.
I like to try lots of different styles and colours. Dont like doing the same pattern twice (as in a second quilt)because there are too many I would like to try. I like a challenge, so that includes points. Last year I did some foundation piecing and love the accuracy of that. And I am not good at sticking to a pattern, usually like to add my own thing, or alter in some way.
Just love the relaxation of hand quilting. Its all fun, hey.

Hello Elle, You have done it, now send off to www.http//noodleshuffle@creative-quilting again and you can be in this months shuffle. The reason we had the criteria of 15 posts was to make sure that those in the shuffle were going to stay and really wanted to be in it. You have passed that one and we all want you to join. We did not want to be mean, we just needed to know that you really wanted to be in. Joyce

Hi Marilyn, This will be post no. 15 !!
My favourite blocks r the simple ones that create subtle secondary patterns through use of colour/value. I'm not keen on many-pointed star blocks or Mariners Compass or Lone Star, but hey, who knows, ?
My favourite quilts r the old fashioned 2 or 3 colour American style folk quilts.
How about you? What r your faves?
Cheers,
Elly

Hi Elle, I can see why you call your group fantastic. That really is a fantastic achievement to support so many groups in need. Do you have any particularly favourite blocks or methods of producing your quilt tops. I really enjoy doing applique, mainly needle turn, and enjoy the challenge of quite intricate detail.
You must be nearly at your required number of posts now. Just keep up the contact with this group. Its great.
