Sz. of noodles for New Members

Hi PJ, Was just looking on your wonderful new site for the Noodle Exchange. Thought I'd mention it was stated that the size would be 4 1/2 inches etc. When reading it, the new gals may think it's 4 1/2 by 45 rather than the 4 1/2 inches by 22 inches that we did in the first exchange. Maybe I'm the only one that it read wrong but I didn't want anyone buying more than they needed to. Again I love the new site! Suzyq

I like that idea! It would be a good way to help with the shipping costs and I bet some would be happy to get their hands on a noodle set!
    Good thinking

    Hello Struth,

Question: So this year stays the same as had been planned?

Answer: Yes, We will be doing a in August, September November. The themes will stay the same. There will be No December shuffle.

Question: What about extra for postage ? Is there an amount that has been settled on or do we just send extra and hope that covers the cost for you girls. Personaly i would rather be given an amount so that way we can be sure you Joyce and PJ are not out of pocket.

Answer: Joyce and I are still working on this. Look for post and answers to this on the Noodle Page in the next few days.

Extra noodles

Just had another minor brain wave. What if you auctioned the extra noodles to a member who was not in the shuffle (or wanted another set) and put the money into the postage fund? There is over 1 1/2 yards of fabric so we could say a minimum bid of $10.00 (we are not making anything for less)

Hi Pat, Just read your suggestion for a signed block for one of the exchanges. Love that idea! What a great memory quilt that would make. Suzyq

Maybe one month instead of a noodle we could exchange a block, of a specified size with our signatures and town, and country and date? We recently did one at our guild that just had a white stip corner to corner in an eight inch square. It would be a wonderful keepsake. Thanks for listening. Pat

extra noodles

  • extra noodles - 2007-08-09 14:11:42-04
I would suggest that the extra noodles either be split between the 2 co-ordinators as a little thank you for their work, or be donated to the member that was collecting blocks to make charity quilts.

Check the Noodle site

PJ has done her bit of magic again and the site has information to be caught up on.http://noodleshuffle.bravehost.com/current_news.html

I am posting the Noodles today as she mentions on the site. She also has written that Noodles can be sent on the 15th. I am away until the end of the month but the Post Office is holding my mail for me to get when I return so they will be safe. If I have received the lot (and we were very efficient last shuffle) I will send them off to PJ early September. The UK ladies can decide what is easier for them, to send to USA or Australia. I do know that UK cheques can be banked in Australia (you may be able to get your noodles together and send them as a group).
I am so looking forward to going away, am taking my computer so hope to get online a few times while away. We have not seen our son for twelve months and he has a new fiancee we have not met yet. Its a bit cold and we are camping in our camper trailer. (lots of quilts on board) Nights cold but days in Queensland twice the temperature we have at home, so will be a change for us. Check out the photo. Now you can imagine where we will be. Hubby likes his own space, so when staying with family we live in their gardens in our own snail house, carried on our back. Hope you have fun when you noodles arrive I did. Cheers Joyce

    Hi Joyce,

I very much like your idea of the bimonthly noodle shuffle. I like the others am willing to do what others wish and it seems so far we are in agreement. I think the first month is probably the most difficult in trying to coordinate all the fabrics and everyone.
Hats off to you and PJ for your work, time and worries!
    Talk soon!

    Either bimonthly or monthly
    Yes additional postage for overseas
Oct/Nov good but wondering if Nov/Dec wouldn't be better and have it in November?

What would I like to see? Being a grandmother and loving kids, kids prints would be good - novelty prints would also be good.

Re:Noodle Shuffle Voting

  • Re:Noodle Shuffle Voting - 2007-08-06 04:37:54-04
I don't know if I get a vote since I have not participated so far, but I vote yes to bi-monthly and yes to extra for postage and yes to Oct.Nov. combined. I think that was all, I want to participate but have so little extra income that I have to be limited in what I do, so if I don't get a vote oh, well. I also vote yes to five or six a year.
Joyce and P J thanks for all you are doing right now. and in the future.

Re:Future Noodle Shuffle Ideas

  • Re:Future Noodle Shuffle Ideas - 2007-08-05 16:50:35-04
Don't think for a minute that we will stop doing the Noodle Shuffle, it is too much fun. Most everyone really excited, me too.
Cost is not a really big problem there are lots of ways around that. Like sharing a little bit. I had budgeted $40 to send them off and it was $65 so just a little bit of a shock. $40 fine by me. Not having monthly will help me with that.
I think exchanges in each country would be pretty boring as we all buy our budget fabric from the same provider here in Australia, and probably similar in US, so more chance of doubling up of fabrics. We only had 9 people in Australia not much fun in that.
We will work out a system for postage with those in UK. to send to me in Aus. I can return to them and they can send me funds later to cover. A cheque works from UK to Australia.
As far as Choice of fabric, to have a shuffle of peoples own choice could be a bit of a hit and miss affair, the fabric could be so different that you could not make anything out of it. BUT we are giving you all a chance to choose the themes of your choice in the questionair. eg, batiks, stripes, dots, checks, country, tone on tone, etc.

    What ever works best.

I may join the shuffle once or twice a year. I don't have the extra to spend.

I was thinking of the kids prints, because I have a grandchild due in Nov. Could change it to a 1st birthday gift.

Re:Future Noodle Shuffle Ideas

  • Re:Future Noodle Shuffle Ideas - 2007-08-05 15:47:17-04
Exchanging fabric around the world is a fun idea. But it sounds like the cost may be a problem. Maybe finish up this year with the internation exchange.

What if there were exchanges within Australlia, US, Canada, and the UK most of the time. More people might particpate, as it would be cheeper. Would need two more hostesses.

Someone mentioned doing an exchange of our choice of fabric. That could be an international exchange.
