LOVE IT ANNA!!! Great Choice! Can't wait to see what the others bring to the sewing table!
A noodle shuffle is a great way for quilters and people interested in quilting to swap Noodles (2-1/2 inch strips of fabric). Members of a noodle shuffle send each other fabric to use in their quilts.

Elle, do you belong to a quilting group in your area? What type of quilting do you like doing.
I really enjoy applique, but doing more pieced quilts now, and enjoy both hand and machine embroidery.

Hi Elle,
How long have you been quilting? What kind of machine do you use? What is your favorite block?

You still have time to do the posts you need to be able to join. Give it a try, its amazing how fast you get addicted to posting!
Metric isnt so hard but bouncing back and forth from metric to imperial is a pain. I hate explaining the temperature here to my friend in the states. When I say its 32 degrees she thinks its freezing!!!! Well not anymore, but she did at one time. NO wonder people in the states think everyone in Canada lives in an igloo.
Happy Posting

Question Poll: 4 1/2 WOF Noodles
- Question Poll: 4 1/2 WOF Noodles - 2007-06-18 10:59:58-04
Ok here is another Question Poll
Joyce and I are considering the sujestions of using wider noodles...4 1/2 by WOF= 6.5cm by WOF....
I wanted to do a poll because that will mean more fabric....at this point if 25 people sign up that will mean about 5 yard/5 meters per member. So lets all vote on the larger noodles... Or let everyone pick between Noodles, or Wide Noodles? Please take into consideration if this gets big this month and you choose Wide Noodles...the amount of fabric/cost/shipping....
Lets Hear your vote!!
QUESTION: Larger noodles... Or let everyone
pick between Noodles, or Wide Noodles?Post edited by: P.J., at: 2007/06/18 16:00

PJ is not available today, we will be able to discuss your ideas tomorrow. Then we will get back to you re the Fat Quarter Idea. For those who have purchased metres or yards already - Dont Panic! we will work it out.

The fat quarters sound like a good alternative for the larger prints. Online I also didn't find prints that would work. I did a lot of looking. Atleast you would have most of the animals. I did see butterflies somewhere that might work, but even they would be good as a fat quarter cut.

Yeh!!! I found one, It has Koalas (Some say Koala Bears, but they are not bears) on it. They are actually 2 1/2 exactly. So there will be a whole row to cut into lots of Koalas. I was really pleased. Got my floral as well. Joyce

Great Idea, perhaps everyone can put a tag on your noodles to say where you are from. In a lot of countries states have different floral emblems so perhaps state and country for flowers. I am really looking forward to this, I bought some fabric already but not knowing yet how many, may have to buy more. Joyce

As a very quiet co-hostess of the Noodle Shuffle I would like to agree with PJ in everything she has said. I am a bit of a silent partner really as I don't understand all the ways of doing things computer wise. But I can post a Noodle back to you when the time comes.
It will be a huge undertaking if lots of you join us. More for PJ than I. Thanks again Michelle and Simon. Joyce

I think that is a great suggestion.
I think I have picked out the fabric I want to share for the flora swap in August. It is a very pretty flower that around here people refer to as a weed. The daycare kids love it because they can pick as much as they want for collages, or just for their moms.
I was thinking about including a small piece of paper for each noodle with that story attached. I think on the computer i can make it small enough to fit on a 2 x2 square.
Just me thinking again when I cant sew.

I am so excited about the noodle shuffle. Exspecially because the materials are going to be from all around the world. Even if there are just from another state it would be nice to see some fabrics that maybe I cant get or havent seen before. I was just wondering if it is possible maybe that we can know where the noodle came from. Not really who, to envade anyones privacy, but to know that after I way this quilt and in years to come when my child or grandchild asked I can say look this piece here is from England, and this one is from Austrlia, and so forth. I just thought I would ask because I would like to know where the noodle came from.

Well I to am having the same problem with finding a small enough print to cut into 2.5. Just thought that I would let someone know and I am glad that I am not the only having troubles/ How about butterflies!!!!! There seems to be some of that out there. I guess here in the US we just dont have small enough animals, the fabric companies seem to want to make them all life size/ hahaha

Hi PJ, I'm back again. I've been playing around with my stash and seeing what might work for the noodle exchange. Keeping your theme the same you could use fat quarters and cut them 4 1/2inches by the 22inch length and end up with four per fat quarter or 16cuts per yard. It would give you the full size patterns you want and more options as how to use it. I'll keep thinkingHope you don't smell the smoke from the old brain

I have searched Ebay, Online fabric stores and my stash.
I can find only the cartoon like animals that would be appropriate in size.
OR
I also found great leopard, tiger, cow and peacock, fur/feather prints.
Would either of these be appropraite to use?
Iwas assuming that the intent was for Photo, real-life prints of real animals.
If you included or specified either of the two above variations it might be easier to find fabrics for this theme.
At least if we know which of the three (Cartoon, Fur/feather prints, or real life)We are using the sets will be better matched in the end.

Hello chick, from the Old English Hen. There has to be an old hen in you brood of chicks. Ha Ha
I have lost touch this past week and now trying to catch up, especially with the Noodle Shuffle. Noodle, really did not know what it meant, initially thought it was a piece of fabric we could find in our stash.
I read the problems re size of animals for the first Shuffle, will this not apply to future shuffles of this size. Flower heads, the leaves or stems cut off, Father Christmas without his boots.
I may have been hasty in wanting to be part of the shuffle, just wanted to take part.Old hen going back under the shrubs with her thoughts.
LOL to you all
Bye now Jo.

Hi P.J.
The only animal print I have found is a yellow background with Bunnies (pink). I got it at Hancocks Fabrics.....but would actaully classify it as Easter rather than animal. I also have a lovely jungle print with Lions and other animals butlike yours it will not cut well into 2.5 strips or blocks.
How much fabric should we be purchasing? I did not see this in the instructions.

Comment was: I didn't realise we had to have such a small print, will have to look again.
Reply: A small print is what I am looking for, my noodles. I just keep finding large print, and if I was to cut it in to the 2 1/2 inch noodle then someone would get a head and another the feet. I don't think I could cut a strip and it be just the feet of deer or wolves etc... send one half to some one and the feet of them to another... I would have to buy double the fabric and cut out the feet! *laughs* thats to many scraps for me!!! I don't need any more feet to clean up after!! Ha Ha...
