Guide For New Noodle Shuffle Members Hello and welcome to the guide that will help you join in on the fun of sharing fabric from around the globe!!!! I have tried to post as much information into this one post, so that new members can scroll through and find the information they are needing without having to go to 15 different posts to get it!! So I hope this helps you to find out more about the Noodle Shuffle here on Creative Quilting. If you have any questions feel free to email the Hostess's at noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com Now, you may be asking yourself, What in the world is a noodle? . Simply said, it's a strip of fabric that is cut into a 2.5 wide strip that is the WOF (width of fabric), which usually ranges between 40 - 44 . Some months the noodles may be wider as some may prefer to make blocks and not use noodles every time. At the beginning of the month there will be a post as to what kind of noodles are being swapped so the everyone is on the same track. It will be intresting to see everyone with the same fabric come up with something different to make. Swapping fabric from around the world will also make it great for others to see what types of fabrics are out there that we may have never been able to see or have the chance to work with. Each month there will be A fabric color or print to guide us in picking noodles for the swap. Each person will choose a fabric and cut a set amout of noodles (amount will vary on how many sign up for the Noodle Shuffle). To keep it simple, mail the noodles to a set address, from there the noodles will be sorted out for each Shuffle member and mailed out to everyone. Once they arrive they will be able to make their projects and post them here on Creative Quilting. On or around the 15th of the month we will send out an email to the members to let them know the current head count. Remember you have to meet the qualifications in order to participate. What can be done with noodles? Cut them into smaller pieces and use the smaller pieces in quilts, such as 2.5 squares Use them as the whole noodles to make a noodle quilt Use them in a braided border Use them in the Tessellating Stars pattern Use them in log cabin blocks Use them in a rail fence block Use them as piano key borders Use them in Half-Square Triangles Use them as diamonds in the LeMoyne Star pattern Use them in I Spy quilts. Use them in a Lasagna quilt. Where do I sign up? Please send an email to JHPym P.J. saying that you would like to join the Noodle Shuffle ****Please do not post personal information in the forum thread. Send that information through email**** Please include in the email: Creative Quilting Id Name: Current Email: Real name and Address: Country: Month of Shuffle you are wanting to join: Hostess's to email: Patricia/P.J. Joyce/JHPym at noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com Guidelines for Noodle Shuffle The shuffle hostess will check your Profile to see that you meet all of these conditions: Or be a Paid Member of Creative Quilting) You need to have been a Creative Quilting member for at least 1 month to participate in a shuffle. You need to have posted at least 15 times on Creative Quilting to participate in a shuffle.Reason for this is to show you are an Active Member . When you see a shuffle you are interested in joining, send the Hostess of the shuffle an email saying that you want to join. In the announcement of the shuffle. Remember, send the Hostess an email -- don't post the information on the shuffle thread. Please think carefully before you join a shuffle about whether you will truly be able to fulfill your end of the shuffle by the deadline that is given. What if I unexpectedly can't make the deadline? If for any reason whatsoever (and there may be any number of legitimate reasons), you are unable to fulfill your commitment by the swap deadline, please let the swap Hostess know by email, as soon as possible. It is crucial to inform the Hostess. Mailing your shuffle item to your shuffle Hostess. You need to use delivery confirmation (DC#) or package tracking of some sort when you mail your package. Also, you need to send the tracking number to the Shuffle Hostess so that they can record it. This way if the package gets lost we can trace it. There are two reasons why you might be allowed to skip delivery confirmation: 1. Some shipping places (like the US Post Office) will not do package tracking/delivery confirmation on packages that are too thin. 2. If you are mailing to another country and adding on package tracking/delivery confirmation could be very expensive, then you can skip it. If you need to skip tracking, then for proof of mailing just keep the receipt from shipping the item. The receipt should have information about where the package is going. Please use sturdy envelopes and tape shut if necessary. We donÂ't want any loose Noodles in mail! Don't forget to include a self-addressed vanilla envelope with paid postage using STAMPS for the hostess to return your Noodles to you. What if I am in a Different Country? If you are in a different country than your Hostess, please just add a Â"Travlers CheckÂ" from your bank, with the same amount that you used to ship your noodles. DUE DATE - The Due date is 25th of the month. Please be sure to mail them early enough so that they are in the HostessÂ's hands on the last day of the month. If there is a special circumstance that you can not make the deadline please pm/email the Hostess as soon as you can, otherwise the Hostess will do the noodle shuffle without you. The Hostess's will start the sorting/shuffling as soon as they get them. Then they will get them ready to mail out. They are then swapped between the Hostess's, then back in the mail to you within 7-10 days after the deadline/last day of the month. There will be a general deadline of the 15th to sign up for the shuffle, this is so we can have general head count for the current members to start cutting/purchasing fabric. Strips need to be mailed to the Hostess and received by the due date. Please feel free to join in and swap/shuffle as often or as little as you would like thru the year! Send an email to noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com for the mailing address of your Hostess if you don't already have it and if you have any questions! Who are the shuffle hostess's and how do I contact them? P.J and JHPym are the Hostess's that you will need to contact for questions about the Noodle Shuffle. Feel free to email them at noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com For signing up for swaps and recieving newsletters please use this address. noodleshuffle@creative-quilting.com **TIP* Just copy the address and paste it in the composed message of your email program. Quality! That is going to be different from person to person. Everyone is going to see things differently, that is a great part of quilting creatively. Everyone is going to choose the fabric that they like and can afford. We are asking that you send the type of fabric that you would like to receive. Please keep in mind that we are trying to keep it simple, and not a lot of rules like there would be in a Guild. This is just a great oportunity to share fabric from around the world. Create some really cute projects that we may not have been able to. Our goal is to make this fun and fairly easy with the fewest guidelines, so that everyone from around the globe can share in our quilting passion. We donÂ't want everyone running to RULEÂ's before they choose to share fabric. That is why we have made GUIDELINES. Other than working out the Shipping Kinks, this should be fun, and exciting experience for everyone. There are Senior Quilters, Experienced Quilters, Teachers, NoviceÂ's, and Beginners joining in on the Shuffle. Please keep in mind, not every one knows everything. This will be a great learning experience for many of us. Please use your best judgment when choose and sharing fabric. There will so many people from different backgrounds, and that will keep it interesting and fun. So lets all get together and Shuffle some Noodles!!!! Signed, Patricia/P.J. A noodle shuffle is a great way for quilters and people interested in quilting to swap Noodles (2-1/2 inch strips of fabric). Members of a noodle shuffle send each other fabric to use in their quilts.
